Build in 1933 at L. Smit & Sons, Kinderdijk under number 872. Tonnage: 793 Length: 63, 35 (60, 10) m Width: 9, 80 m Depth: 5, 90 (4, 65) m Engine: Two 4tew 6 cil. diesel engines from N. V. Werkspoor, Amsterdam (500 x 650) on a single screw. 31.00 e.p.k. 1933: (October 3rd) In service for L. Smit & Co’s Internationale Sleepdienst Maatschappij N. V.,Rotterdam. 1940: (May 10th) Taken over by the Royal Navy to tow the unfinished Hr Ms “Isaac Sweers” from Vlissingen to England. 1940: (August 20th) Bombed by the Germans at Falmouth and partly sunk. Raised and after repairs in 1941 (February) in service again. 1941: “W 163”, Tug Rescue Section. 1945: Back in Holland (Maassluis) 1948: Partly rebuild (she got a new ass….sorry…a new stern) 1951: (December 31st) After collision with a Danish ship badly damaged and towed to St. Nazaire. 1952: (January 11th) arrived at Rotterdam for repairs. 1961: “Zwarte Zee III”, renamed because her owner commissioned a new tug under the same name. 1962: “Ierse Zee”, renamed because the shipyard layed the keel of a new tug under the name “Zwarte Zee”. 1966: (October 27th) Towed by the “Kinderdijk” and the “Kijkduin” to N. V. Frank Rijsdijk’s Industriële Ondernemingen, Hendrik Ido Ambacht for scrapping. |
